Former Film Student Producing a Manatee Documentary at SCAD

Brittany Bierly is a former high school student of filmmaking instructor Neal Bennett. Brittany is now attending Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. She is producing a documentary focusing on the controversy surfacing as manatees are petitions for removal form their endangered status.

“We are thrilled, especially as film students, to make this documentary because it is an opportunity to learn and share the complex situation that manatees are facing in Florida. Film is a medium in which we can communicate that information to an entire people (you guys!).”

“The human population is one of the main reasons why Manatees were originally put on the endangered species list. It’s part of our responsibility to get them back to their original flourishing state. Just like all living creatures, Manatees impact the environment. ”
